EPA published its "All Appropriate Inquiry" (AAI) federal regulation
in November 2005, allowing for a one-year phase-in period with the final implementation
to be effective November 2006. The commercial real estate industry is currently operating
within that interim period where the ASTM E1527-97, E1527-00, E1527-05, or adherence to the
EPA AAI regulation language without reference to an ASTM standard may be used to satisfy all
appropriate inquiry.
