MSD water well research and data
A Municipal Setting Designation (MSD) is an official designation in the state of Texas that is assigned to a property located within the boundaries of a municipality. An MSD certifies that designated groundwater at a property is not being used for irrigation or human consumption. Groundwater from such a source is also prohibited from future use as agricultural or drinking water because the water is officially classified as contaminated.
The process of having a property approved for the MSD designation includes identifying and notifying all water well owners within a five mile radius of the applicant site that an MSD application is in process for that property.
Banks has been the leader in Muncipal Setting Designation research since the status was authorized by the Texas Legislature in 2003. We have been instrumental in the completion of over 90% of the pending or approved MSD applications in the state of Texas.
Banks provides the following required data for your MSD application:
- Five-mile water well radius report
- Half-mile water well radius report
- Water utility database (WUD) report
- Mail merge spreadsheet identifying all current well owners
